The new face of the arts (as well as cooking and physical fitness) on Public Access Television in Los Angeles is John Kilduff. He hosts Let’s Paint TV ( or more recently Let’s Paint, Exercise, and Make Blended Drinks TV and Let’s Paint, Exercise, and Make Pancakes TV). On these 28.5 minute shows, Kilduff does pretty much what the title of the show implies– all at the same time, while answering calls from his viewers.
Let’s Paint TV seems (from the clips that I’ve watched) to be completely untouched by cynicism. Kilduff’s enthusiasm for painting (and the other tasks he performs on the show) feels completely genuine. He answers calls with the voice of a host who has never taken a prank call (the dominant type of caller on his show). And he does it every week.
